Information for Sophomores

Colleton Medical Center is accepting applications for students ages 15-18 to participate in their volunteer program.  Volunteers are expected to work at least four hours per week for an 8 week period in different areas of the hospital.  Interested students need to see Mrs. Carter for more details and an application.

Each year, we are invited to send one of our sophomores to attend the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership seminar in Charleston.  The three-day seminar is usually held in late spring or early summer at The Citadel.  There is no cost for the student.  CPA will pay for the registration and all other fees.  This is a national program that encourages leadership development and recognizes young people who are potential leaders in their communities.   To learn more about these seminars, visit the website at www.hoby.org/studentsandparents.  If interested, students must submit form to Mrs. Carter by Friday, October 30th.

The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities is accepting applications for its 2010 Summer Programs and the 2010-11 Residential High School.

Applications are available online at www.scgsah.org/section/admissions. To have an application mailed to you, contact the Office of Enrollment and Outreach at 864.282.3713 or admissions@scgsah.state.sc.us.

All applications must be postmarked by Friday, January 8, 2010. Regional auditions will be held in February 2010.

The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th to all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders.  The test will be administered during the school day at CPA.  Students must be present in order to take this test-there is no make-up test available.  Students who take the PSAT will receive a free personalized college planning kit online when they receive their scores.
