The South Carolina
Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities is accepting
applications for 2008 Summmer Programs and the 2008-2009
Public Residential High School Year. The deadline for
applications has been extended to February 20, 2008.
Interested emerging artists should call Anne Tromsness at
864.282.3706 or email applynow@scgsah.state.sc.us
to request applications and more information.

PSAT score reports have
been distributed to all 9, 10 and 11th grade students.
Students are encouraged to visit
www.collegeboard.com/quickstart
to review their test results. Use the access code provided
on the score report. A parent tutorial for understanding
PSAT results was also distributed to students and can be
found online as well. [It is important that you write down
your user name and password and keep in a safe place as you
will need this to register for future SATs.]

Interested 10th graders have
received information about the Hugh O'Brien Youth (HOBY) Leadership
seminar that will be held in Charleston this June. Essays are due in the
Guidance office by November 12 to be considered. Two delegates will be
chosen by the selection committee to represent CPA. |

The PSAT (Preliminary
Scholastic Aptitude Test) will be administered on Wednesday, October
17th to all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. The test will be administered
during the school day at CPA. Students must be present in order to
take this test-there is no make-up test available.
Students who take the PSAT will receive a free personalized college
planning kit online when they receive their scores. |

Rising juniors and seniors
who are interested in pursuing a college degree in Agriculture or
Natural Resources may be interested in a summer program though Clemson
University and the SC Commissioner's School of Agriculture. Applications
are available at
www.clemson.edu/cafls. |
