Electives are subject to change depending upon faculty availability and scheduling.

Freshman

All 9th grade students will take the required coursework below dependent upon pre-requisites, recommendations, and previous scores/grades:

Algebra I            or            Algebra II H
Spanish I            or            Spanish II  H
Physical Science
World History I
English I
PE & Health
Computer Applications/Research

Note: each of the above is a credit requirement for graduation from CPA.

Freshman will also have the opportunity to participate in non-credit clubs and activities; study hall will be offered during Activity period.
 

Sophomores

All 10th grade students will take the required coursework below dependent upon pre-requisites, recommendations, and previous scores/grades:

Algebra II CP                                               or            Geometry H
Spanish II CP                                              or            Spanish III H (2012-13)
Biology CP                                                  or            Biology H
World History II CP                                       or            World History II H or AP contract
World Literature & Composition CP                   or            World Literature & Composition H
Fine Arts Rotation (Drama, Music, Visual Arts)

Note: each of the above is a credit requirement for graduation from CPA.

Electives (choose one):

Musical Arts I (Chorus)
Speech & Dramatic Arts I
Visual/Graphic Arts I
Cultures of the Continents
Advanced Computer Applications 

Sophomores will also have the opportunity to participate in non-credit clubs and activities; study hall will be offered during Activity period.
 

Juniors

All 11th grade students will take the required coursework below dependent upon pre-requisites, recommendations, and previous scores/grades:

Geometry*            or            pre-Calculus H
Spanish III  or            Spanish IV H(2013-14)** or   Additional language CP/H(Latin, French, German, other)(2013-14)**
Chemistry CP/H contract
U.S. History CP/H or AP contract
American Literature & Composition CP/H
Computer Applications & Journalism (required 2011-2012 only

Each of the above is a credit requirement for graduation from CPA.

* Geometry is required for all by Junior year; advanced students will take pre-Calculus during Junior year. Pre-Calculus will be offered during Summer session 2012 to qualified students to prepare for Calculus and Physics in Fall 2012.

**Beginning with the 2013-14 school year, students who have completed Spanish III prior to Junior year may elect to continue with the Spanish language (recommended), take an additional foreign language (advisable), or take an alternate elective (CP).

U.S. Government CP        or            U.S. Government H/AP       &             Economics CP

Senior Seminar CP/H**     or            English 102 (dual)*

Each of the above is a credit requirement for graduation from CPA.

History, Literature, Arts of the Bible               
Spanish III (required if missing on transcript by Senior year)
Psychology

Additional Foreign Language (2014-15)

* Calculus, English 101, English 102 are offered for dual credit through USC-Salkahatchie. Dual Credit courses carry the same grading weight as an AP course.  **Economics, U.S. Government, Senior Composition and Senior Seminar are one semester, one credit courses. ***AP Language (2011-12); AP Literature (2012-13). 1Environmental Science is not offered 2011-12.
